Missed Lesson Policy and Make Up Lessons

A 24 hour notice is needed when canceling a lesson.

You can cancel or reschedule a lesson directly through the lesson portal.

A two weeks notice is required to terminate lessons.

If your child forgets to bring home their instrument or music you can still have them come to their lesson. If I don’t have an instrument or spare music for them to use, I will take that lesson to review musical terms related to their instrument. If you choose to cancel for this reason, a make up will not be given and full payment for that lesson will be required.

Lessons will ONLY be made up if there is a 24 hour notice given at cancellation, or if cancellation occurs due to an emergency or illness. For emergencies or illnesses, a lesson will only be made up if the cancellation occurs more than 3 hours before the lesson start time.

Make up lessons must be rescheduled within 45 days of the cancellation or the make up will be forfeited. You can reschedule the make up on the lesson portal or contact me for availability.

If a make up lesson is cancelled, it cannot be rescheduled and the lesson will be forfeited.

Lessons will not be made up and will be forfeited for the following reasons:

1. If you forget to come.

2. If you forget to cancel.

3. If you cancel in less than 24 hours.

4. If you have an Emergency or wake up sick and cancel less than 3 hours before your lesson start time.

5. If you forget your music or instrument and cancel for that reason.

Lessons will only be prorated for the following reasons:

1. If I have to cancel and cannot reschedule.

2. If the student and I are unable to coordinate our schedules, prorating may be an option.

5th Week of the Month

Some months will have 5 weeks in them. If you would like to take lessons all 5 weeks, payment for that month will be for 5 lessons.

You may also use that 5th week for a make up lesson if needed. If I need to cancel a lesson, I will utilize the 5th week of the month for the make up lesson.

Online Lessons- Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts available

Online lessons are a great option for a student who lives further away.

Online lessons also work well for these reasons:

 1. If things are going on in your schedule that make it difficult to come in person that week.

 2. If the weather is not so nice that day.

 3. If you are feeling under the weather but still feel good enough to have a lesson.

 4. If you don't have a way to get to your lesson in person.

 5. If you need to reschedule to a later time in the evening and you want to have your lesson in your PJ's.

If you do need to switch to online for that week, please just send me a text or email to let me know. I you do live close enough to have in person lessons, but prefer online, I do highly suggest coming at least once a month in person. In person allows us to play duets together (if taking violin or viola lessons), and that's always FUN!

No Lessons during the following Holidays:

Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, July 4th

Snow:

In case of snow/ice, I will contact you if lessons will be cancelled or the lesson may be cancelled at the discretion of the parent or student. I feel safety is most important. During the winter months when the weather is bad, if you have skype, facetime, or google hangouts and do not want to cancel the lesson, I will be able to give the lesson that way. This is a great option if you do not want to miss a week due to bad weather.

Etiquette for My Home:

When entering my home, please come in, go down the stairs and have a seat. That is the waiting room area. The bathroom is actually located off of the studio room. Parents are more than welcome to come in, sit on the couches and wait. I ask that you please be respectful of my home.

Please note: By starting or continuing lessons, you are agreeing to abide by the policy sheet.
